Dagestan leads among the regions of the North Caucasus in terms of the number of deaths in the North Caucasus

According to official reports, the largest number of military personnel killed in the “special operation” from the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District is in Dagestan – 833 people. The Stavropol Territory was in second place with 356 people.

Next in order of decreasing official death toll are North Ossetia (275), Chechnya (189), Kabardino-Balkaria (140), Ingushetia (56), Karachay-Cherkessia (48). In the district as a whole, the losses of fighters in the “North Military District” amounted to at least 1,900 people.

With the start of the “special operation,” military personnel from the regions of the North Caucasus refused to participate in hostilities. Among others, these are 115 employees of the Russian Guard from Kabardino-Balkaria, 50 from Vladikavkaz, 300 from the self-proclaimed South Ossetia.

Thanks to “coffin” payments and compensation for injuries, in 2023, residents of the North Caucasian Federal District have increased their bank deposits. Most of all - in Adygea (32%), Chechnya (plus 30%), North Ossetia (28%) and Dagestan (27%). In terms of this indicator, Tyva is the leader among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation - there the volume of funds on bank deposits increased by an average of 45% monthly. Buryatia and the Altai Republic were also among the leaders. All of these regions, including the subjects of the North Caucasian Federal District, are among the poorest and subsidized.
