The Armenian government has initiated a signature collection campaign in the country's provinces to demand the resignation of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, the newspaper Iravunk reported. According to the newspaper, the initiator was ruling party MP Karen Sarukhanyan, who received the support of fellow party members and the approval of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The European Union will continue its monitoring mission in Armenia
The European Union Ambassador to Armenia Vasilis Maragos stated that the EU monitoring mission will continue its work in the country without changes. In an interview with the Armenian service of Radio Liberty, he noted that both the people and the government of Armenia support the presence of the mission.
Maragos stressed that the European Union is ready to discuss possible changes to the mission's mandate with EU member states and the Armenian authorities, but there is currently no need for adjustments. He also added that the mission is in Armenia at the request of the Armenian side and will continue its activities as long as it is necessary to maintain peace and resolve the situation.
