The Orenburg Regional Court has begun hearing the state prosecution's appeal in the 6-million-ruble bribe case involving former senator Rauf Arashukov. The prosecution is seeking to increase the fine for the former official, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, from 120 million to 420 million rubles.
Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the head of Ingushetia, expressed concern about the low level of utility bill payments by residents. According to him, payments for electricity account for only 63%, while for gas and water, they are around 45%.
On social media, Kalimatov reported significant amounts of outstanding debt: 1.5 billion rubles for gas (approximately 7,000 lawsuits have been filed), 1.7 billion rubles for electricity, and 92 million rubles for water.
The head of the republic called on residents to pay their utility bills on time and announced increased oversight of debt collection. He emphasized the need to educate the public on the importance of timely payments.
As a reminder, Kalimatov previously called on Ingushetia residents to pay their taxes and utility bills more responsibly, citing this as a way to replenish municipal budgets and resolve water supply issues.
