The head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people: "The Crimean Tatars have shown themselves to be the Ukrainian force"

“2014, after the annexation of Crimea by Russia, changed the perception of Ukrainian society regarding the Crimean Tatars. Many stereotypes have disappeared, as have fears and distrust. Because the Crimean Tatars have shown themselves to be a Ukrainian force,” said the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, during a meeting in Prague with representatives of the Ukrainian community.

According to Chubarov, Crimean Tatars remain loyal to the Ukrainian state. “The end of the Russian-Ukrainian war must be secured by such force of international documents that there are no thoughts of revenge on the part of Moscow. I think that there is one panacea - this is the non-preservation of Russia within its existing borders. If other peoples appear in this territory, we must help them. I am a supporter of the fact that Ukraine should ensure its security by supporting the peoples enslaved by the Russian Federation,” Refat Chubarov summed up.
