Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili stated that the ruling party's signing of a document in support of Ukraine was motivated not so much by fears of an international investigation as by a desire to irritate Russia.
In Ingushetia, doctor and activist Bagaudin Gaitukiev was sentenced to five years of suspended imprisonment. He was accused of aiding and abetting members of an illegal armed group. He himself denied all accusations.
Bagaudin Gaitukiev was detained in March 2022. He stated that he did not hand over the pistol to the witness presented by the investigation - a member of an illegal armed group. The witness himself recanted his testimony during interrogation. In addition, Gaytukiev has an alibi: at the time of the “crime” he was outside Russia, which is confirmed by witness testimony and marks in his international passport.
Bagaudin Gaitukiev gained fame as a philanthropist, purchasing medicines for the poor. In 2009, he also performed an operation on the then head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, who was wounded in a suicide attack on his motorcade.
