Source: Four villas in the Emirates registered to Kadyrov's cousin
Shakhruddi Edilgiriev, the cousin of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, is listed as the owner of four villas in Dubai worth a total of over $20 million. This was reported by Vazhie Istorii, citing the Dubai Unlocked real estate data leak.

In December 2022, Edilgiriev bought the Ottoman-style "Royal Villa" with an area of 1,026 square meters on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah for $14.4 million. Ramzan Kadyrov had previously used it as an unofficial embassy in the UAE. In 2017, he hosted boxer Mike Tyson there.

In 2023, Edilgiriev purchased three more luxury villas on the mainland of Dubai worth a total of about $6 million.

As the publication notes, Shakhruddi Edilgiriev was the general director of the central market of Grozny, the Kadyrov family business, for several years. Before that, he received a salary in the Chechen government in an unknown position. His brother Pakhrudi Edilgiriev is wanted in the European Union in connection with the case of preparing an assassination attempt on Muhammad Abdurakhmanov, a human rights activist and the brother of opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov. Another Edilgiriev, Amrudi, is an adviser to Kadyrov and the head of the Mosque-Building organization. When he was detained in Turkey in 2012 for attempting to smuggle 12 kg of gold, he managed to return to the Russian Federation on a diplomatic passport.

In 2025, residents of the North Caucasus regions consumed the least amount of hard liquor in Russia. The lowest official retail sales figures were recorded in Chechnya (0.01 liters per capita). Other republics of the North Caucasus Federal District also demonstrated modest figures: Ingushetia - 0.7 liters, Dagestan - 2.2 liters, Kabardino-Balkaria - 2.6 liters, North Ossetia - 3 liters, and Karachay-Cherkessia - 3.4 liters. Experts attribute this decline to the prevalence of cultural and religious restrictions, as well as a preference for low-alcohol beverages.
