Kadyrov demanded the expulsion of relatives involved in the attack on the traffic police post

The relatives of the organizers and the perpetrator of the attack on the traffic police post in Achkhoy-Martan must be expelled from Chechnya, said the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov. According to him, four people were involved in the incident, who are allegedly in Turkey. The head of the region demanded that their closest relatives ("fathers, brothers") be expelled, as well as that their property be confiscated "for starters." If after this they do not stop working together with Ukraine, the head of the region proposes "expelling their uncles, cousins on both the father's and mother's side from Chechnya."

"Concerning this illegitimate child, expel his father, mother, if any, and brothers from Chechnya, regardless of where their property is - in Chechnya or Moscow - confiscate it," Kadyrov announced his verdict at a meeting with the leadership of the security agencies.

He noted that responsibility for the attack on the traffic police post lies not only with the perpetrators and organizers, but also with the "parents and closest relatives of the terrorists." Kadyrov also said that the attack on the police in Chechnya was supervised by a Ukrainian citizen through subordinates located in Turkey.

On April 7, in the city of Achkhoy-Martan, a local resident attacked a traffic police post with a knife. The police officers received stab wounds. Two law enforcement officers were taken to the hospital, one of whom later died. The attacker was eliminated by return fire.

Billionaire and former Nagorno-Karabakh state minister Ruben Vardanyan, sentenced in Baku to 20 years in prison, rejected the legal force of the ruling and dropped his appeal. His family explained that this decision stemmed from the fact that, in their view, the trial was a "staged performance" rather than a proper trial: the hearings were held behind closed doors, without access to independent observers, and the prosecution's motions were ignored. The full text of the verdict was also not released.

Chechnya Leads in Lowest Alcohol Sales

In 2025, residents of the North Caucasus regions consumed the least amount of hard liquor in Russia. The lowest official retail sales figures were recorded in Chechnya (0.01 liters per capita). Other republics of the North Caucasus Federal District also demonstrated modest figures: Ingushetia - 0.7 liters, Dagestan - 2.2 liters, Kabardino-Balkaria - 2.6 liters, North Ossetia - 3 liters, and Karachay-Cherkessia - 3.4 liters. Experts attribute this decline to the prevalence of cultural and religious restrictions, as well as a preference for low-alcohol beverages.
