Moscow's Gagarinsky Court ordered the confiscation of property and vehicles belonging to Magomed Kushtov, the former head of the Federal Tax Service for Ingushetia, and his brother, Ilyas, in favor of the state.
Georgian Prime Minister and Chairman of the Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze voiced the party's position on the "completely unfounded and increasingly frequent attacks from the European bureaucracy" on Georgia. He stated that Brussels is exerting strong pressure on official Tbilisi, since the ruling Dream refuses to join Russia's war against Ukraine, while the opposition is ready to "fulfill any task," including opening a "second front."
According to Kobakhidze, the unfair treatment of the Georgian authorities "coincides with the beginning of the war in Ukraine." He noted that the previous US Administration had groundlessly accused Tbilisi of having ties to the Russian Federation, despite the fact that Georgia had sought to politically support Ukraine: it had approved hundreds of resolutions, sponsored investigations into war crimes, accepted Ukrainian refugees, sent humanitarian aid and, by not joining, had not evaded sanctions against Russia, which was confirmed by US sanctions coordinator Jim O'Brien.
"Then we asked the question: what had Georgia not done that was the reason we were under constant blackmail? Our political team and Georgian society answered this very quickly - we had not joined the war: we had not opened a second front against Russia, which is why the then Administration, controlled by the global party - the same Deep State - decided to punish Georgia.
The demand for Georgia to join the war "soon left the walls of the corridors and hints behind closed doors, when specific high-ranking Ukrainian officials of Ukraine directly demanded that Georgia open a second front - Danilov, Podolyak, Goncharenko and others directly spoke about the need for a second front in our country," the prime minister emphasized.
We are talking about the statements of Kyiv officials, in particular, the Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov. On August 8, 2022, he said that Georgia, which lost Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and Moldova, which lost Transnistria, should follow Ukraine's example in order to "tear Russia apart."
Kobakhidze calls on society to be extremely careful and not to succumb to "blackmail and provocations from the European bureaucracy." Otherwise, there is a risk of taking "a step that will lead to the unconditional destruction" of Georgia.
In his statement, Kobakhidze also noted that the Trump Administration's attitude toward Georgia is fundamentally different from the unfair attitude that came from the Biden Administration.
"We have repeatedly said and confirmed that we wish President Trump success in the fight against the Deep State. However, we also reserve reasonable doubts that this battle may end not with the defeat of the Deep State, but with its rebranding, the purpose of which may be to push the United States aside and draw Europe into the Russian-Ukrainian war at full power and, ultimately, destroy Europe and Russia as a whole. Time will tell," concluded Irakli Kobakhidze.
