Crimean Tatars celebrate National Flag Day

On June 26, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Crimean Tatar flag. It symbolizes the unity, continuity of generations of Crimean Tatars, their struggle for freedom and the right to self-determination.

In 1917, the first Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people approved this flag as a national one. The holiday itself has been celebrated since 2010. In Crimea, after the annexation of the Russian Federation in 2014, this date became a symbol of the resistance of the Crimean Tatars and a way of expressing identity.
