A decision on whether to extradite mathematician and blogger Mikhail Verbitsky, detained in Yerevan, to Russian authorities will be made soon. He is expected to be released soon, according to Artur Sakunts, head of the Yerevan-based human rights organization Helsinki Citizens' Assembly - Vanadzor.
In the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don, the consideration of the case of the fifth Bakhchisarai group of defendants in the "Hizb ut-Tahrir" case began. Seydamet Mustafaev, Remzy Nymetulaev, Abdulmejit Seitumerov, Amethan Umerov, Ruslan Asanov and Eldar Yakubov were able to see their relatives at the court - an hour after their arrest.
All the accused declared in court that they do not consider themselves guilty and did not commit the crime. According to lawyer Edem Semedlyaev, the prosecutor read the indictment for about two hours at the meeting.
The defendants were repeatedly detained at actions in support of other arrested compatriots. They were indicted on charges of organizing a terrorist organization and participating in it on the basis of membership in the Hizb ut-Tahrir Islamic party.
Cases of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is recognized as a terrorist organization on the territory of Russia, are regularly brought against Crimean Muslims. Its alleged participants are accused and sentenced to real terms on the basis of holding meetings in apartments and reading religious literature.
