Crimean Tatar political prisoner lost almost 30 kg in Russian prison

Political prisoner Timur Yalkabov lost 28 kg in three months in Prison No. 1 in Dmitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk Region. This was told by his wife Aliya Muzhdabayeva. A Crimean Tatar was often placed in a ShIZO for unknown reasons.

Yalkabov's wife stressed that his hands began to go numb, he suffers from beriberi. A man often loses personal hygiene products. To this, the prison staff shrug their shoulders and say that he did not have these things.

On March 22, 2022, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Timur Yalkabov to 17 years in prison. He was charged with participation in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation, but freely operating in Ukraine and Europe.

According to the case file, the defendant did not own a weapon, did not plan to commit a terrorist act, and did not call others to terror. The defense and Yalkabov himself called the process fabricated and linked it to public criticism of law enforcement agencies for repressions against other Crimean Tatars.
