Crimean Tatar political prisoner denied legal relaxation of conditions of detention

In Crimea, the court refused to satisfy the claim for the transfer from prison to a colony of the Crimean Tatar Eskender Abdulganiev, convicted in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case.

Earlier, lawyer Rustem Kyamilev noted that the period of stay in prison should accrue from the moment of detention, which means that Abdulganiev should have been transferred to a colony a year ago. Lawyer Lilya Gemedzhi said that it is not yet known why the Russian court rejected the claim, but the defense will appeal.

In November 2020, Eskender Abdulganiev was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He had to spend the first three years in prison. He was found guilty of the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in Russia. Now the activist is in the Vladimir Central.
