The least serious crimes are committed in the three republics of the North Caucasus

Ingushetia, Chechnya and Dagestan were recognized as the leaders among Russian regions in terms of the smallest number of serious and especially serious crimes. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the first quarter, 0.2 to 0.5 such incidents per 1,000 inhabitants were registered in these republics.

Magadan region (1.91 crimes), Kamchatka region (1.78) and Republic of Altai (1.63) were also leaders in this indicator. Moscow (16.8 thousand), Moscow region (7.1 thousand) and Krasnodar region (5.9 thousand) were anti-leaders in terms of the absolute number of serious crimes in the first quarter.

The first quarter of this year became the record holder for the number of crimes committed in Russia since the beginning of 2022. The growth was 13.6% - a total of 170.8 thousand serious and especially serious criminals were registered. In addition, 2024 became the record holder for the last 15 years. Last year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs registered 617.3 thousand such a criminal.
