During a live Q&A broadcast by the Grozny State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced his willingness to run for reelection in 2026. He emphasized that he would only participate in the elections if he received an offer from President Vladimir Putin and popular support.
Mikheil Saakashvili, former Georgian President and one of the opposition leaders, was discharged from the Vivamed Clinic and returned to Prison No. 12. The Special Penitentiary Service reported that his health is assessed as satisfactory and does not require further inpatient treatment.
Saakashvili had been receiving medical care at the clinic since May 2022. His health worsened after a 50-day hunger strike he declared following his arrest. He was initially held in a prison hospital, then in a military hospital, and was later transferred to the Vivamed Clinic.
This spring, Saakashvili's total prison sentence was increased to 12.6 years. According to previous sentences, he must remain in prison until April 1, 2034. In addition, the prosecutor's office recently announced the opening of a new criminal case against him on charges of calling for a violent change of the constitutional order or government.
