The Peace Bridge initiative opened its land border with Armenia for the first time to activists from Azerbaijan

An Azerbaijani delegation has arrived in Armenia for the second time in four months. According to Armenian media, civil society activists participating in the Peace Bridge initiative crossed the land border along a demarcated and delimited section near the village of Kirants in Tavush.

As part of the initiative, a roundtable discussion involving civil society activists from both countries will be held in Armenia on February 13-14. According to ArmInfo, the discussions will focus on issues related to the implementation of the peace agenda agreed upon at the White House summit on August 8, 2025. Separate sessions will be devoted to the formation of a regional security system, the benefits of peace, public perceptions of normalized relations, prospects for economic cooperation, and the role of civil society organizations in strengthening trust and mutual understanding.

Last October, Azerbaijani civil society representatives arrived in Yerevan by air, and Armenians paid a return visit in November. Notably, this marks the first time an Azerbaijani delegation has crossed the land border with Armenia since the country's independence. Meetings between Azerbaijani and Armenian civil society representatives began after the initialing of the draft peace agreement between the countries in Washington, D.C., in August 2025.
