Municipal elections in Dagestan are taking place amid problems with water and electricity

In Izberbash, where about 60 thousand people live, there was a water supply outage. There are also water outages in Buinaksk. The previous evening, dozens of villages in Dagestan were left without electricity. Against this background, elections to local government bodies have begun in the republic.

The situation is complicated by unfavorable weather conditions: in recent days, heavy rains have been falling in Dagestan. In Khasavyurt, utility services have warned of a possible temporary deterioration in the quality of tap water due to heavy rains.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 54 settlements in eight districts of Dagestan remain without electricity. The Buinaksk administration also reported power outages.

On September 12, elections to local government bodies are being held in Dagestan. They cover six urban districts and 38 municipal districts, i.e. almost the entire territory of the region. There are about 1.3 million people on the voter list, which is more than 76% of the total number of registered residents.
