Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that during the 44-day war in Karabakh, an information campaign was launched against Azerbaijan with the aim of accusing Ankara of supporting Baku. He emphasized that these accusations relied on the rhetoric of Ankara's opponents and spread false information about Turkish arms supplies to Azerbaijan.
Former Chairman of the Adjara Autonomous Republic government Tornike Rizhvadze was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the chest in the Geohospital (Sagarejo, Kakheti region), where he received emergency medical care. This was reported by the Georgian Interior Ministry. According to the agency, the ex-politician has a damaged lung, but his health condition is stable.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 115 of the Criminal Code on incitement to suicide. In addition, one person was detained on charges of careless storage of firearms (Article 238 of the Criminal Code).
It also became known that before the suicide attempt, Tornike Rizhvadze wrote a letter that medical personnel found in his clothes. In it, the ex-politician raised several issues, in particular, the charges brought against him for corruption and patronage of "barigs" (drug buyers).
In the letter, the former head of the Adjara government appeals to the founder and honorary chairman of the ruling party of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili and the country's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze with a request to protect his family. He notes that all his employees and members of his entourage are innocent, since they simply "acted on his orders." Rizhvadze speaks with gratitude and goodwill about the head of the Maritime Transport Agency, whose weapon was used in the suicide attempt.
