The Memorial Human Rights Centre described the decision as “unprecedented in the practice of the [ECHR], and indeed in the history of international justice as a whole”.

Sochi and the federal territory of Sirius were hit by a massive drone attack on the night of September 4. A fire broke out at an oil depot, and windows in several residential buildings and other structures were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate no injuries.

The Southern District Military Court sentenced a 42-year-old resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, who is on the international wanted list, in absentia. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison on terrorism charges.

A three-day vigil in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack on School No. 1 ended in Beslan on Wednesday. The main events were held at the former school building and at the City of Angels memorial cemetery. Two residents of occupied Crimea—26-year-old Enver Chaush and 23-year-old Muslim Mambetov—were held incommunicado in Simferopol Pretrial Detention Center No. 2 for over 20 months, according to Eskender Bariyev, head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

The Georgian Prosecutor's Office intends to question former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and other public figures as part of the investigation into the death of human rights activist Lazar Jorbenadze. The office states that investigative actions have confirmed the death was suicide.
