Upon arrival at the colony, the Crimean Tatar was immediately put in a punishment cell, with the promise that it would be for a long time
After a two-month stage in IK-1 in Yakutia, the Crimean Tatar Ruslan Mesutov was placed in a punishment cell.

According to his sister, the prison staff took away the political prisoner's personal belongings, including glasses and the Koran. He was promised that "he would be in a punishment cell for a long time and that he would not have the right to use either the store or visits."

In 2021, Mesutov was sentenced to 18 years in a case of involvement in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. It is banned in the Russian Federation and recognized as terrorist.

Before his arrest, Ruslan Mesutov developed a religious community in Alushta and organized Muslim holidays.
