The fine for Rauf Arashukov, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, is being sought to be increased from 120 million to 420 million rubles

The prosecutor's office is demanding that the fine for Rauf Arashukov, a former senator from Karachay-Cherkessia who was sentenced to life imprisonment, be increased from 120 million to 420 million rubles.

According to investigators, in May 2024, Arashukov offered an employee of the Black Dolphin prison colony 6 million rubles for privileges, including numerous visits with family members and unlimited parcels. The prisoner and his lawyer, who acted as an intermediary, were caught red-handed.

Following this, the Leninsky District Court of Orenburg sentenced Arashukov, who had already been sentenced to life imprisonment, to 10 years in prison and a fine of 120 million rubles. The prosecutor's office is currently insisting on increasing the fine to 420 million rubles.

As a reminder, Federation Council member Rauf Arashukov was arrested in 2019. In December 2022, the Moscow City Court found him and his father, Raul Arashukov, known as the "gas king," guilty of organizing the murders of two public figures in Karachay-Cherkessia and embezzling gas on an especially large scale. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment. It is noted that after his imprisonment, Rauf Arashukov expressed a desire to join the "SVO," but his request was denied.
