Senator Arashukov from the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, will be tried again

The Leninsky District Court of Orenburg is holding off-site hearings at the Black Dolphin maximum security prison in the Orenburg Region, where former Senator Rauf Arashukov from Karachay-Cherkessia is serving a life sentence. A new criminal case against the convicted man is being heard there.

According to investigators, in October 2024, while already in prison, Arashukov attempted to bribe an FSIN officer by offering him 3 million rubles to improve his conditions. This sum was supposed to provide Arashukov with a number of privileges: additional phone calls and visits with family, an increased number of parcels and packages, and the right to choose his place of work and cellmates. The prisoner denies any guilt in the crime he is accused of.

As a reminder, on December 27, 2022, the Moscow City Court found Rauf Arashukov and his father, Raul Arashukov, known as the "gas king," guilty of organizing the murders of two public figures in Karachay-Cherkessia and embezzling gas on an especially large scale. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment. It is noted that after his imprisonment, the former applied to join the SVO, but his request was denied.
