A case was opened against a resident of Dagestan for cutting off Russian flags

A criminal case on the rehabilitation of Nazism was opened against a 19-year-old resident of Dagestan. According to the security forces, the young man cut off the red flags placed on the central streets of the village of Karabudakhkent. The flags were considered “symbols of the glory of Russia.” The case was initiated based on materials from the Federal Security Service.

After the start of the SVO, the number of cases under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism (Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code) increased sharply. According to the SOVA Research Center, many cases under this article are brought inappropriately and should be resolved through civil rather than criminal proceedings.
