Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili stated that the ruling party's signing of a document in support of Ukraine was motivated not so much by fears of an international investigation as by a desire to irritate Russia.
The words "burn down the State Duma" in a comment from 2020 became the reason for the criminal prosecution of a 44-year-old resident of Vladikavkaz named Eduard. He is accused under the article on calls for terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code).
The comment was related to the news item "The State Duma adopted in the first reading a law on changes to the list of Days of Military Glory and memorable dates, according to which it determined a new date for the end of World War II - September 3." This decision by officials caused a negative reaction in North Ossetia due to the anniversary of the terrorist attack in Beslan.
In addition, the court fined another resident of the republic, Alan Kaziyev, for a comment about police officers selling drugs. The man explained that he does not trust the security forces: they had previously failed to solve the case of his injury.
