Turkey continues to strengthen Azerbaijan's defense capabilities, viewing it as a fraternal state and a key ally in the region. This was stated by Turkish Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, who emphasized that cooperation is based on the principle of "one people, two states, one army."
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has expressed serious concern about the escalating pressure on independent media in Georgia. According to its data, 600 attacks and harassment of journalists were recorded in the country between October 2024 and October 2025, including physical violence, threats, unjustified fines, detentions, and accreditation revocations.
The highest number of incidents was recorded in Tbilisi. The number of attacks on Pirveli TV crews (more than 80 cases) is particularly alarming. Publica, Batumelebi, and Netgazeti are also under pressure.
RSF links the increased pressure on the media to pro-European protests, noting the authorities' tendency to equate journalists with protesters. The introduction of the "foreign agents" law and a number of other legislative amendments creates additional risks for independent journalism. Georgia's Anti-Corruption Bureau has already initiated investigations into several newsrooms.
RBG considers oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili a key figure implementing a repressive policy against the media. As a result, Georgia has dropped 36 places in the World Press Freedom Index, ranking 114th.
