Russian political scientist who praised the President of Azerbaijan has been declared a "foreign agent".

Russian political scientist Sergei Markov has been given the status of a "foreign agent". This was preceded by criticism on Z-channels against him for compliments to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Markov, speaking at the III Shusha Global Media Forum, called Aliyev a "brilliant intellectual". It is noteworthy that at the same forum, Aliyev criticized Russia regarding the incident with the downed AZAL plane and the situation in Ukraine. He called on Moscow to admit guilt for the downed plane, bring those responsible to justice, pay compensation to the families of the victims and compensate for the damage caused. In addition, the President of Azerbaijan said that Baku is preparing international lawsuits against Russia. Aliyev also spoke about the conflict in Ukraine and called on the country "not to agree to the occupation."
