The poorest families with children live in the North Caucasus

The subjects of the North Caucasian Federal District became outsiders in the ranking of Russian regions in terms of family well-being in 2023. The rating was calculated based on Rosstat data on the cash balance after deducting the minimum expenses of a family with two working people with the average salary for the region.

From 80th to 84th places were taken by Karachay-Cherkessia, Dagestan, Chechnya and Ingushetia. In these regions, families have between 10 and 2 thousand rubles left. The situation is worst in the CBD, where after all the spending there is no money left in the family budget.

The wealthiest families are in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Moscow and Ugra. There, families after minimal expenses are left with from 93.5 to 141.2 thousand rubles.

Experts note that in all the regions that are in last place, it is very difficult to support a family on average official salaries without additional income.
