Senator from Kabardino-Balkaria Kanokov threatens to make critics apologize

Arsen Kanokov, the former head of Kabardino-Balkaria and current senator of the Federation Council from this region, promised to “make [such users] apologize” in response to critical comments under a video about his activities. After Western companies left Russia, Kanokov became the beneficiary of the Russian assets of McDonald’s, Starbucks and OBI.

We are talking about the activity under the post of the journalist of “Popular Politics” Ruslan Shaveddinov, dedicated to Kanokov. The senator was outraged by a comment from a reader who claimed that he rarely visits the republic and spent most of his time “hanging around” in Moscow.

In response to this, Kanokov wrote: “You are probably poorly brought up! If you were a man, I would make you apologize for the word “hanging around”!”

Arsen Kanokov headed Kabardino-Balkaria from 2005 to 2013: first as president, then as head of the republic. In 2013, he left the post of his own accord and became a senator. In 2021, Forbes estimated Kanokov's fortune at $750 million, which allowed him to take 160th place on the list of the richest businessmen in Russia.

In June, it was reported that Kanokov's son gave his beloved a car worth 10 million rubles for her birthday. This caused heated criticism on social networks.
