North Caucasus regions lead in terms of provision of schools with teachers and attraction of young personnel

According to the rating “If to Be Precise”, Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan received from 6 to 7 points out of 10 possible in terms of provision of schools with teachers. The higher the score, the lower the shortage of teaching personnel. In addition, these regions are seeing a rejuvenation of the teaching staff. In Chechnya, for example, only 5% of teachers are over 60 years old, while the national average is 17%.

In the past academic year, the largest share of teachers under 35 was recorded in Chechnya (49.6%), Ingushetia (33.6%) and Tyva (31.6%). These regions are also among the top ten regions of the Russian Federation in terms of the total share of young people aged 20–34. The lowest proportion of young teachers is recorded in Chukotka (12.7%), as well as in Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia (14%).

According to Rosstat, teachers' salaries in the North Caucasus remain among the lowest in Russia. In 20 regions, there is a large gap between the salaries of teachers and specialists from other industries: in the North Caucasus Federal District, it is 15–27%.
