Wife of Chechen native accused of terrorism banned from attending court

Dmitry Puntusov, judge of the 1st Eastern District Military Court in Khabarovsk, banned Aisha Mutaeva from attending hearings until her husband Apti Visaev, a native of Chechnya, was sentenced. She is also his public defender. The judge considered the posting of publications containing photos from the meetings on Mutaeva's telegram channel as the reason for the ban. At the same time, the consideration of the case is open, there are no restrictions on visits.

According to the woman, she did not take photos or videotape the process. She attributes the court's decision to the support her husband receives in response to the publicity of his case.

Earlier, Apti Visaev reported lawlessness in SIZO-1 in Khabarovsk. According to him, cell No. 364 of the pre-trial detention center is a torture chamber and the competent authorities should conduct an inspection.

Recall that Apti Visaev was detained in May 2021. He is charged with planning an explosion in Norilsk on the day of the celebration of Victory Day. Later, he revealed the data of a secret witness who gave false testimony due to pressure from the security forces. Then this witness disappeared and left Russia.

Since the end of 2022, Visaev has been kept without explanation in the special block of the pre-trial detention center in Krasnoyarsk. Aisha Mutaeva reported that the pressure on him was initiated by the investigation in order to achieve self-incrimination. According to the woman, her husband was subjected to inhuman treatment and was in danger. Later Visaev was transferred to Khabarovsk.
