Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev missed the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg due to a busy work schedule. Aliyev's administration also noted that his absence from the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 21 was due to Azerbaijan not being a member of the organization.
Ten Crimean Tatars were searched
In Bakhchisarai and the Dzhankoy region of Crimea, security forces conducted searches of Crimean Tatar activists. They went to ten addresses.
In the Dzhankoy district, searches were carried out at the homes of religious figures Remzi Kurtnezirov, Vait Mustafayev, Ali Mamutov, Arsen Kashka, Enver Khalilaev and Narimin Ametov. In Bakhchisaray - with Crimean Solidarity activists Rustem Usmanov, Aziz Azimov, Nemet Lyumanov and Mustafa Abduramanov. Abduramanov, Kurtnezirov, Khalilayev and Ametov were taken away for interrogation. It is unknown what the search was for.
