Crimean Tatar political prisoner has serious health problems
In prison No. 2 in the Vladimir region, Crimean Tatar Asan Akhtemov's eyesight has significantly deteriorated due to the lack of light in his cell. In addition, his knees began to hurt and he has almost no teeth left.
"And seeking medical help is just a waste of nerves. And it is already very difficult there," said the prisoner's wife Repika Akhtemov.
In 2022, brothers Asan and Aziz Akhtemov, as well as the first deputy head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Dzhelal were sentenced to 13-17 years in a maximum security penal colony. Investigators believe that they participated in the explosion of a gas pipeline in the village of Perevalnoye in Crimea on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. The defendants stated that after their arrest, they were tortured with electric shocks, demanding confessions from them. They did not admit their guilt.
