In its report, "Georgia – Anatomy of Repression: 500 Days of Protests, Dispersals, and Resilience," Amnesty International called for the Georgian government to end its smear campaigns against independent media, journalists, and opposition politicians. The organization also recommended that the EU and international partners take steps in this direction.
After a search and interrogation, journalist Idris Yusupov was released and no charges were brought. However, mobile phones, laptops, and flash drives, including those belonging to his family members, were confiscated from him.
Yusupov is being held as a witness to the riots at the Makhachkala airport, although he has nothing to do with them. During the interrogation, he filed a motion to call lawyers Arsen Shabanov and Shamil Isaev, not refusing to testify, but wanting to testify with their participation.
Let us recall that the Russian authorities associate the riots at the airport against the arrival of Israeli citizens in Dagestan in connection with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with the activities of the destructive forces of the West and Ukraine. The head of Dagestan Melikov invited the detained participants to atone for their guilt by participating in the “SVO” in Ukraine.
