Activists in Moscow have installed a memorial plaque for the 21st time in honor of Anna Politkovskaya, who was murdered in 2006. The plaque, which reads, "Anna Politkovskaya lived in this house and was vilely murdered on October 7, 2006," has previously been destroyed by unknown assailants. Activists intend to continue restoring it until it remains in place forever.

At about 10 o'clock in the morning in the city of Shali, on Lenin Street, not far from the courthouse, military personnel killed a man. His name and place of permanent residence are unknown to Memorial Human Rights Center employees. According to eyewitnesses, when he saw military men walking down the street, he tried to hide in a nearby yard. Most likely, he did not have documents with him. Without warning, the military opened fire on the fleeing man. After that, they blocked the residential area, refusing to let in those who lived there. However, people nearby saw how a weapon and a video camera were brought into the cordoned off zone. According to residents, the military was preparing to film a video report about another “destroyed militant.”
