The native of Dagestan left a long sentence for recruitment into terrorism, despite falsification of evidence

The Supreme Court of Russia upheld the 11-year sentence of the native of Dagestan Yusup Omarov, finding him guilty of inducing him to commit a terrorist act. According to the lawyers, the criminal case was falsified and the prosecution witnesses are agents of the security forces.

According to the investigation, while in Moscow, Omarov along with another young man persuaded two acquaintances to commit a terrorist act. The defence stated that the prosecution relied on the testimony of two witnesses. One of them is an undercover agent of the security forces, the other in court was helped to answer questions by unknown persons. Both witnesses, however, stated that the defendant had not given them any specific information.

The search of Omarov did not reveal any weapons or objects implicating in terrorism. Nevertheless, the Armed Forces sided with the investigation and upheld the verdict.
