In Armenia, it was admitted that local border guards will guard the border with Azerbaijan instead of the Russian ones
At a meeting with journalists in Yerevan, the head of the country's Foreign Ministry, Ararat Mirzoyan, said that if there is trust between Armenia and Turkey and there is an open border, local border guards will be able to protect it instead of the Russian ones. He also noted that the issue of withdrawing the 102nd Russian base from Armenia has not yet been resolved.

In addition, Mirzoyan said that the EU mission will continue to monitor the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan until its complete delimitation. Thus, he responded to accusations from Moscow and Baku that the EU mission interferes with the South Caucasus, and its representatives engage in espionage.

"Yerevan and Baku recorded progress in the normalization of relations last year. We managed to sign the first international legal document on the joint activity of delimitation commissions," Mirzoyan emphasized.

He added that Yerevan will continue to purchase weapons to protect the territorial integrity of the country. And just in case, "if there are sincere concerns in Baku", the head of the Foreign Ministry reminded that "the Armenian side has already proposed to create an arms control mechanism." This proposal, according to Mirzoyan, remains in force.

Experts attribute this decline to the prevalence of cultural and religious restrictions, as well as a preference for low-alcohol beverages.
