Russian symbols are being removed in Armenia

In Yerevan's Victory Park, the flag and coat of arms of the Russian Federation, installed at the monument to Armenian and Russian border guards, were torn down. The mayor's office of the capital said that the “owners of the territory” were responsible for what happened.

According to the Armenian media, this is not the only such case, and this happens regularly. It is noted that this site falls under the jurisdiction of the mayor’s office.

In April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that they want to tear Armenia away from the Russian Federation at an accelerated pace.

“Let those in Yerevan who are now being enslaved by the West have an epiphany sooner. “All those who want to take Armenia somewhere should be reminded of the recent statements of the chief diplomat of the European Union, Borrell, when he forced the inhabitants of Europe to continue the war in Ukraine,” Lavrov said.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan complained about the inaction of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh. He also stressed that his country has no other choice but to move towards Europe. In addition, he repeatedly criticized the military-political bloc CSTO, which is under Russian influence, and announced the suspension of Armenia’s membership in it. Secretary of the country's Security Council Armen Grigoryan reported that in 2020, 96% of Yerevan's military-technical cooperation was with the Russian Federation; since 2021, Russia's share has collapsed to 10%.
