Azerbaijan says it will hand over scandalous judge to Russia
Ex-judge Elena Khakhaleva, detained in Azerbaijan, will be extradited to Russia after a court decision. She tried to fly from Baku to Dubai, but Azerbaijani security forces prevented her.

Former judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court Khakhaleva is accused of fraud and official forgery. She became famous after a video leaked online of her daughter's lavish wedding, which cost $2 million. Nikolai Baskov, Vera Brezhneva, and Valery Meladze sang at the ceremony.

Khakhaleva was arrested in absentia in Russia back in 2022 and has been successfully hiding from the investigation since then. The arrest occurred at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. The investigation claims that between 2016 and 2019, Khakhaleva missed 127 working days, not properly registering business trips and continuing to receive a salary. As a result, according to investigative bodies, she illegally enriched herself by about 1.2 million rubles.
