Dozens of residents evacuated in Chechnya due to flooding

Due to heavy rainfall in the Chechen village of Mesker-Yurt, the Dzhalka River overflowed its banks, flooding 45 homes, including eight houses, which were completely submerged. According to the Shali District administration, local residents were evacuated and temporarily housed with relatives.

In the village of Agishty, 20 households were also evacuated due to the threat of flooding.

Furthermore, a partial dam collapse was recorded over a section approximately 300 meters long. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

Albert Rabuyev, head of the Itum-Kalinsky District, shared information that two people previously listed as missing have been found in the avalanche-affected border zone.

"Over the past two days, active search and rescue operations have been conducted in the avalanche area located in the border zone of the Itum-Kalinsky Municipal Formation, specifically in the Terloysky rural settlement, the villages of Malkhista, and the hamlet of Terti. I hasten to share positive news: the coordinated work of the rescue team and relevant services has resulted in the discovery of the missing people. Unfortunately, one of them could not be helped, but the other is already in a medical facility. His condition is stable, and his life is no longer in danger," the district head noted.

He also emphasized that all rescue operations were carried out under the direction of the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, using all necessary technical means and resources.

A federal state of emergency, declared on April 9, remains in effect in Chechnya. Heavy spring rains caused the flooding of 4,360 homes and adjacent plots in 39 villages.

Meanwhile, in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, utility services have switched to an enhanced operating mode. As night fell, active cleaning of storm drains began. Emergency services are working in the most vulnerable areas of the city, as rain continued throughout the night.

The Dagestan Traffic Police Department has decided to temporarily restrict traffic in the capital. Water supply has been completely cut off within the city limits.
