During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
In Chechnya, a man died after being tortured by police
Aslan Dombaev, a resident of Urus-Martan, was kidnapped by police officers. He was then tortured, as a result of which he fell into a coma and died. This was reported by the Chechen opposition movement NIYSO.
According to activists, Dombaev was taken to the Shali District Department of Internal Affairs in February. He was forced to go to war with Ukraine and was threatened with prosecution under a fabricated criminal case. After torture, the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.
It is noteworthy that the Chechen authorities and other structures have never publicly commented on NIYSO's information about violations in the republic.
