In Chechnya, together with the kidnapped British citizen, another man is being held in custody

Magomed Abubakarov, a native of the republic, a political refugee and a citizen of Great Britain, is illegally detained in a temporary detention center on the territory of the DMIA of the Kurchaloy district of Chechnya. Together with him, another man named Umar Masaev is kept there. He is the owner of the Serlo store in Urus-Martan, and holds the position of chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Union of Speleologists. This was reported by the Center for the Protection of Human Rights "Memorial".

Abubakarov and Masaev are united by the fact that in 2009 they both were already detained in Urus-Martan. In the same year, a military man died as a result of an explosion at the checkpoint. The first of them was forced under torture to confess his involvement in the explosion, but in the end he was convicted for aiding an illegal armed formation. Masaev was convicted under the same article.

Earlier it was reported that in May Magomed Abubakarov came from the UK to Urus-Martan to visit his mother. On the night of June 1, he was abducted from his house by armed men who identified themselves as employees of the Kurchaloy District Department of Internal Affairs. Since then, his whereabouts have been unknown.
