In Dagestan, the girls who brewed coffee on the Eternal Flame will be retried
A criminal case about brewing coffee on the Eternal Flame has been submitted to the Supreme Court of Dagestan. Due to a photograph that appeared online, which captured the aforementioned action, Yuliana Aliyeva and Maryam Chunkova are accused of insulting the memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War.

The case will be retried. In May last year, the Makhachkala court sentenced the girls to two years probation, but the appellate court overturned the sentence due to incorrect jurisdiction.

In the appeal, the lawyer indicated that his clients had no intention of insulting the memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War, and brewing coffee on the Eternal Flame was a “stupid, everyday act.” In addition, the act itself was not public, since it was only seen by the person who filmed what was happening on his phone and sent the photo to the Telegram channel.
