In Dagestan, a policeman was released from custody, convicted of beatings and extortion.

The Khasavyurt City Court mitigated the measure of restraint and released policeman Shamil Aliyev from the detention center under house arrest. He and his partner had previously been found guilty of abuse of authority with violence and falsification of evidence, each being sentenced to three and a half years' imprisonment.
In December, the Supreme Court of Dagestan overturned the sentence of Shamil Aliyev and his partner Ramazan Saipulayev. The case was sent for a new hearing.
According to the investigation, on March 26, 2020, Aliev and Saipulayev detained local resident Yulduz Kurashova in Khasavyurt and brought to the department. There they began to beat her on the head and body, demanding to pay 500 thousand rubles. Otherwise, they threatened to kill the woman, or plant drugs in her. Fearing for her life, she agreed to give the money. The next day, she was released home, having prepared documents on suspicion of drug trafficking.
