Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili stated that the ruling party's signing of a document in support of Ukraine was motivated not so much by fears of an international investigation as by a desire to irritate Russia.
Georgian intelligence services are investigating the preparation of a terrorist attack against the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, and other high-ranking members of the party. The State Security Service is conducting an investigation under Art. 315 of the Criminal Code (conspiracy or rebellion for the purpose of violent change of the constitutional order) and Art. 323 (terrorist act).
It is noted that surveys of citizens who fought on the side of Ukraine against the Russian Federation have been ongoing for several days. About ten people were called to the State Security Service. Most of them refuse to testify and state that they are ready to do so only in court.
“The questions were whether you were going to participate in a terrorist attack called a coup d’état. A person is asked, since you are a fighter, are you going to participate in these terrorist attacks and coup d'etat? But the investigation has no evidence,” said one of the lawyers, Mikheil Ramishvili.
