In Georgia, a New Year's protest meeting was held on Rustaveli Avenue
In Tbilisi, the participants of the New Year's protest dispersed only at dawn, picking up the trash behind them. Local publications note that there was a "sea of people" on Rustaveli Avenue, and many came with children. Thousands of Georgians celebrated 2025 at a phenomenally long table, which they set themselves with food brought from home. Those gathered spoke inspiring toasts, sang and danced.

It is reported that honored artists of the country were seen in the crowd, including Nana Bregvadze and Nino Katamadze.

The fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, also spent New Year's Eve at the protest action. According to her, 2024 "became the year of the triumph of Russian law, Russian laws and methods of Russian repression in Georgia", but at the same time "the year of great unity".

"You are winners, you are strong, the future is yours. What you are doing, what is happening before our eyes is a real miracle," Zurabishvili addressed those gathered on Rustavela Avenue.

It is noteworthy that Zurabishvila's speech was broadcast only by opposition TV channels. As Newsgeorgia reports, at that moment there were former civil servants who were fired for openly declaring their position.

Let us remind you that on the day of the inauguration of the candidate from the "Georgian Dream" Mikhail Kavelashvili, Zurabishvili left the presidential palace, saying that she "takes legitimacy with her."
