Georgia celebrates National Flag Day
Today Georgia celebrates National Flag Day. Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili congratulated the population on the holiday. “The flag preserves our great history and directs the unshakable will of the citizens of Georgia towards one goal - to protect and strengthen our freedom. This is a symbol of the unity of us all - we have one Motherland and one future. I wish peace, unity and further progress to our Motherland,” Garibashvili said.
The current state flag of Georgia - a white cloth with five red crosses - was approved on January 14, 2004 after the Rose Revolution.
The US and EU embassies congratulated Georgia. “We congratulate our Georgian partners and friends on National Flag Day!” the statement said.
