In Georgia Continue Rallies Against the Law on Foreign Agents»

In Tbilisi, opponents of the law on foreign agents continue to protest. They have returned to the parliament building.
Today MPs have to make a decision to submit to the plenary session two bills on foreign agents - the Georgian and American versions. The legislature has strengthened security measures and restricted movement inside the building.
On the eve of the first reading, the Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia supported the draft laws "On transparency of foreign influence" and "On registration of foreign agents". According to the head of the committee Henri Ohanashvili, controversial issues, including terminology, will be discussed in the second reading on March 9.
Earlier, the initiative was criticized by European and US countries. It includes the creation of a register of «agents of foreign influence», where all non-profit legal entities and media, whose revenues are financed by foreign forces of more than 20%, will be registered.
