In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a contract soldier was sentenced to five years for absence from duty
The Nalchik Garrison Military Court sentenced contract soldier Amerkhan Kurskiyev to five years in prison. He did not report to his military unit for nine months because he was caring for his mother.
In court, Kurskiyev stated that he was given leave, but he did not report to the unit at the appointed time. At the same time, after nine months, he himself contacted the police, citing his guilt. Kurskiyev's brothers said that he began to live at their place of residence, helping their mother with the housework and caring for her.
The court ruled that the contract soldier had broken the law, and his mother did not need additional care. As a result, the man was given five years of imprisonment in a general regime colony.
