The Orenburg Regional Court has begun hearing the state prosecution's appeal in the 6-million-ruble bribe case involving former senator Rauf Arashukov. The prosecution is seeking to increase the fine for the former official, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, from 120 million to 420 million rubles.
The investigative bodies of Kabardino-Balkaria have opened a criminal case against a 17-year-old local resident suspected of aiding terrorist activity. Information about this is posted on the website of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
According to the investigation, in 2024, the suspect, adhering to the ideology of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia, organized its cell in the Urvansky District of the republic. The alleged goal of the group was to commit crimes against government agencies and security forces. It is alleged that the suspect was recruiting accomplices to carry out these plans.
On July 4, 2025, the suspect and the organizer of the group attempted to attack a traffic police officer in Nalchik in order to seize his weapon. During the incident, the organizer was killed, and the minor suspect was detained while attempting to escape. The head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Kazbek Kokov, explained the attack on traffic police officers in Nalchik as “attempts to destroy the country.”
