In Karachay-Cherkessia, lawyer and activist Ramazan Mkhtse was sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison for spreading "fakes" about the Russian army.
The charges were based on the video "Time to Change! No to War!" published by Mkhtse on YouTube. The court found that the video was intended to discredit the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine. The sentence was handed down in absentia because Mkhtse is on the international wanted list. Ramazan Mkhtse is a lawyer and activist dedicated to preserving Abaza culture, having previously received an honorary diploma from the regional parliament.
