During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
Costa Rica accommodates deported citizens of the South Caucasus
Costa Rica (Central America) has accepted the first group of migrants deported from the United States, including citizens of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. This agreement with Washington allows for the temporary accommodation of up to 200 migrants until they return to their countries.
The deportees include families from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, as well as from Turkey and the Russian Federation. The migrants are allowed to stay in Costa Rica for a month, during which time the authorities coordinate their voluntary return to their homeland.
The repatriation process will be fully funded by the US government and carried out under the supervision of the International Organization for Migration.
